| I made this video to show how I fixed my gps issues with my galaxy s3 when tightening the 10 screws on the back no longer worked. The video also shows the location of the gps, wifi and cell reception antenna connections on the motherboard. If you have ever dropped your phone in water or you take it into the bathroom with you when you shower and the humidity could have caused corrosion inside your phone then this video is for you. This is a rather long video but the general idea is: 1 - if your galaxy s3 gps doesn't work or works sporadically then try to tighten the 10 small silver screws on the back of the phone behind the battery cover. (easiest and quickest fix) 2 - If you have tried that and it didn't work or quit working then take the 10 screws out and remove the back plastic part covering the motherboard. Then try to tighten the small black screw at the bottom of the phone that holds the motherboard in. 3 - If that doesn't work then you will have to remove the motherboard from the phone and look for corrosion on the motherboard and the metal frame of the phone where the two come together, especially around where the 10 small silver screws go. The corrosion wont stand out. You have to look really closely and it will most likely be a white or very light green film on the gold parts. You will most likely not see it on the top of the motherboard, but it will be on the bottom where the board touches the phone frame. You will have to take it out to see it. This corrosion is most likely caused by dropping you phone in water or using it regularly in a very humid place like a bathroom while you are taking a shower. Gently clean all of the corrosion from the motherboard and phone frame, put back together making sure to tighten the black motherboard screw and cross your fingers!
