This is perhaps one of the worlds first demonstrations of the 1.5Ghz OMAP4460 running in a fully optimized Honeycomb Tablet. Archos is releasing the Turbo 1.5Ghz in January 2012 worldwide starting at $399 MSRP (actual retail price may be as low as $369 I guess, based on the 1Ghz Archos 101 G9 being now sold for $339 and the 1Ghz Archos 80 G9 being sold at $269.) The price difference between the 1Ghz and 1.5Ghz Archos G9 tablets is supposed to be about $30. |

The excellent dual core powered Archos 101 G9 250GB HDD with 1GB RAM Running Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich. This brand new model costs around ?450 UK Pounds half the price of an iPad 3. This price also includes the 3G HSPA+ stick which is unlocked to any network. It has Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n) and also 3G HSPA+. An ARM OMAP 4 1.5 GHz (Dual-Core) CPU from TEXAS Instruments, A GPS, 720p Front Facing Webcam for video chat, Bluetooth 2.1+ EDR, Full HD screen at 10.1" TFT - 1280 x 800, mini HDMI output for mirroring to your HDTV. Mini USB for transferring all your media files, videos, music and photos, PDF's or Apps etc. The full size USB connector on the back of the device is reserved for the 3G stick only. The internal HDD is: Seagate 250GB Momentus 7mm Thin Hard Drive Battery is Lithium polymer and has a long life: Audio playback - up to 36 hours Video playback - up to 8 hours. Internet browsing - up to 12 hours. The device can go into standby for many days. (All times are measured as continuous use estimates) I used it all day from 7 am in the morning to install apps from Play Store (Android Market), played games, watched USTREAM, YouTube, sent emails and surfed the web, Used the GPS to get home and still had plenty of battery left to watch the movie Convoy (1978) at night and after it I also watched Top Gear on BBC iPlayer then I played loads of music for a few hours before I put the charger in and I still had 7% of battery left over before bedtime around 2 am. I don't know the exact capacity of the internal Lithium polymer battery but it must be huge. Never had a tablet that lasted this long before!. It takes around 4-5 hours to completely recharge the battery to 100% from flat. On this new model you can't recharge the battery using a USB cable connected to your computer you must use the supplied mains charger. The USB on a computer probably doesn't put out enough current to charge the higher grade battery on this model. So buy a spare charger in case you might need it in the event of a fail. They are only ?12 each. Archos tablets are also available in cheaper versions with 8" and 10.1" screens and Flash memory of 8GB and 16GB instead of the Seagate 250GB Momentus 7mm Thin Hard Drive. But I wouldn't go down that road as the other models are a lot older and are much less powerful with a 1GHz CPU and only 512mb of ram. You will be unhappy. You really need the 1GB of ram and the fast dual core 1.5Ghz CPU for the HD games to run smoothly otherwise they will eventually lock up after a while of game playing. A few days after I made this video there was yet another firmware update from Archos that fixed the touch screen first finger touch and Wifi disconnects on some networks. With Archos you are buying from a known brand and they always have new firmware updates at least two times each month. Archos is truly designed for multimedia and will play any type of video and music file, they offer extra codecs to buy from their store if you need them, the tablet will even convert your files to a different format if you wish. So don't buy those cheap Chinese tablets that always fail with 256mb of ram and a very short life battery they always end up in the bin. Buy from a known brand and have peace of mind that you haven't wasted your money. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is also nice but ?150 more expensive and less features, it depends on what you prefer personally. I preferred the Archos 101 G9 Turbo 1.5Ghz. Everyone has a choice. Everyone is different. Overall I love the tablet, it does exactly what I want it for and can also video chat over Skype, Google Talk and Yahoo!. Sadly it is not live video broadcast compatible with USTREAM yet, so I can only watch and not broadcast but I am sure this will be possible in updates to come when USTREAM add more devices and drivers to their app. This is the fault of the USTREAM app developers not the Archos firmware team. It will stream live fine with Twitcasting.tv. Justin.tv don't have an app yet on Android. The two big names above seem more interested in the iPhone and iPad at present. But now that Google has changed it's Android Market to Play Store it might attract more attention from the big guns if they think there is more money to be made.
